Field Engineer
A Field Engineer (FE) in a networking company is a technical specialist deployed on-site at customer locations to install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and support network infrastructure. They bridge the gap between remote NOC (Network Operations Center) teams and physical hardware in the field.
Installation & Commissioning Deploying routers, switches, firewalls, access points, fiber/copper cabling, and WAN/LAN equipment at customer premises.
Key Responsibilities
Site Survey & Requirement Analysis
Assessing field locations and mapping deployment prerequisites.
Installation of Network Devices
Hands-on deployment of Router, Switch, AP, Firewall, etc.
Configuration & Testing
Setting up operational parameters and verifying device readiness.
Troubleshooting
Resolving critical connectivity and performance bottlenecks on-site.
Preventive Maintenance
Routine system health checks to maximize network uptime.
Documentation & Report Generation
Maintaining clear, structural field records and daily sign-offs.
Coordination & Collaboration
Aligning seamlessly with NOC teams, internal support, and customers.
Safety Standards & Best Practices
Strict adherence to enterprise safety mandates and standard guidelines.
